Rainbow after the storm

Our Japaneese maple in our front yard bursts with color every fall. This past season, we were amazed that it had every color of the rainbow - all at one time! So we made a rainbow! There were alot of analogies that came to me from this. One being, even in the midst of a season when there is decay and death - there is beauty that bursts forth.... our hope of what is to come! Also, thinking of storms - and "whirlwinds" in particular (as that is my life w/ 4 boys!) - I think of God's promise of peace and calm after a storm. And more so - the peace and calm that can be found amidst the storm.

For much of the 2 years since the loss of my husband, God has pulled me into the very eye of the hurricane - that place where there is light, calm, and peace in the center of the storm. Although I can get sucked into the whirlwind at times - He has graciously kept me close - His nearness has been such a healing comfort and joy!

I've changed the name of this blog to "A Soft Place to Land".....at least for now. :) And I will attempt to be more regular with posting. I'm still trying to get caught up w/ technology and simply trying to find more "margin" in my life. Yet, in the midst of raising 4 boys, I have been writing a good deal of new songs..... songs that have chronicled the journey of the past 2 years....."A Soft Place to Land" being one of them. For God has indeed been that "Soft place to land......held graciously in the "hollow of his Hand......sometimes right in the "eye of the hurricane" Blessings!

The Next Chapter

It's been over a year and a half since my husband, Scott, passed away; leaving me a widow and our 4 young boys without their daddy. Although it's still hard to believe and we miss him dearly, we continue to trust in God's goodness and plan - even as we continue to walk through our grief. If you'd like to read the whole story, go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/scotthamilton1

This blog is the start of the next chapter for us. If you'd like to keep updated w/ how the Hamiltons are doing, please subscribe to this blog. I'll do my best to post monthly- but no guarantees. :)

A few changes for us... the two older boys, Luke and Pierce, are now attending our wonderful church school, Perimeter Christian School. (or PCS) Luke is in the 6th grace, Pierce is in 3rd. I'm very thankful that God opened the way for us to be there and it has really been great for them. (and for me - as there was just too much on the plate!) They both have WONDERFUL teachers and they are really liking it a lot. Fortunatly I'm able to stay home and be with the younger two. I'm homeschooling Nathan for first grade and enjoying sweet little Evan who turned 3 in August.

Although life can be hard, God is still good! There is much to be thankful for. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas! Remember the joy and the hope we have - not just at this time of year - but always!!
