Rainbow after the storm

Our Japaneese maple in our front yard bursts with color every fall. This past season, we were amazed that it had every color of the rainbow - all at one time! So we made a rainbow! There were alot of analogies that came to me from this. One being, even in the midst of a season when there is decay and death - there is beauty that bursts forth.... our hope of what is to come! Also, thinking of storms - and "whirlwinds" in particular (as that is my life w/ 4 boys!) - I think of God's promise of peace and calm after a storm. And more so - the peace and calm that can be found amidst the storm.

For much of the 2 years since the loss of my husband, God has pulled me into the very eye of the hurricane - that place where there is light, calm, and peace in the center of the storm. Although I can get sucked into the whirlwind at times - He has graciously kept me close - His nearness has been such a healing comfort and joy!

I've changed the name of this blog to "A Soft Place to Land".....at least for now. :) And I will attempt to be more regular with posting. I'm still trying to get caught up w/ technology and simply trying to find more "margin" in my life. Yet, in the midst of raising 4 boys, I have been writing a good deal of new songs..... songs that have chronicled the journey of the past 2 years....."A Soft Place to Land" being one of them. For God has indeed been that "Soft place to land......held graciously in the "hollow of his Hand......sometimes right in the "eye of the hurricane" Blessings!
